Applications can look different depending on the program you're applying for. If you need support, contact local NHC staff or the head office. Applications can be submitted online here or through the mail, fax, or email. For full instructions for each form, make sure you read through carefully and ask for help if needed.
Before applying, review our eligibility requirements to ensure you qualify for housing assistance. Programs are available to residents in all five Nunatsiavut communities.

Once received, our staff will carefully review your application. We’ll contact you if any additional information is needed and let you know when a decision has been made.
If your application is approved, we'll schedule a home inspection to assess the condition of your house and confirm program suitability. You’ll be notified in advance to arrange a convenient time.
Affordable Rental program is designed to meet the needs of lower income Inuit individuals and families in Nunatsiavut who can live independently.
Eligibility for our programs varies as each program is meant to address a different housing need. If you are not eligible for one program, you may be eligible for others, so we encourage you to check in regularly. If in doubt, simply ask our staff!
Everyone may apply and is eligible for Affordable Rental Housing; however, you will be prioritized for the Program If your household meets the following conditions:
One of the following household groups:
Family
Senior (65+)
Person with Disabilities
Single people or couples at risk of homelessness
On a fixed income
Beneficiary
Reside in Nunatsiavut
Meet residency requirements
Able to live independently

Must meet the definition of Beneficiary as defined under Part 1.1 under the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement;
Must be the owner of the home (i.e. not renting the home);
If you have received assistance from the Nunatsiavut Government Affordable Home Repair Program in the last five years, any further assistance will be provided at the discretion of the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission.
